Karun Nair’s performance in the series against England was much talked about. He scored 205 runs in the series at an average of 25.62 and a strike rate of 52.56. He scored just one fifty-plus score, which was in the first innings of the fifth Test at The Oval.
Nair got starts in majority of his innings but failed to kick on after getting to his 30s and 40s. His modes of dismissal were almost similar in most of the games.
The Karnataka batter was selected for this Test series ahead of players like Shreyas Iyer and Sarfaraz Khan. Both scored heavily in domestic cricket, but it was Nair, who scored truckload of runs in Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy cricket and in the end made a comeback in the side.

Karun Nair Seemed More Unsettled And Uncomfortable: Irfan Pathan
However, the comeback was not as he expected. He played four Test matches and in eight innings scored just a touch over 200 runs. Irfan Pathan, in his latest YouTube video, rated Nair's performance 4 out of 10, analysing where he fell short.
“Karun Nair gets four out of ten. Why? He didn't look particularly poor throughout the series. He kept getting starts consistently but managed only one half-century. He got plenty of opportunities. Cricket definitely gave him a second chance, but he couldn't capitalise on it the way he should have. Especially in the Lord's Test, he had a real chance to win the match for India but couldn't do it,” he said on YouTube.
“Other than that, it often seemed like he was playing well, building up nicely, and then suddenly, he'd play a loose shot and get out. At the Oval, when the bouncer was used against him, he looked a bit shaken and seemed more unsettled and uncomfortable. So, he gets four points,” he added.

Nair Ruled Out Of Duleep Trophy 2025
On the back of his finger injury that he survived in the last Test, Karun Nair has lost his place in the Duleep Trophy 2025 squad for the South Zone. A Times of India report stated that he is ruled out of the tournament due to a fractured finger.
